GRAND OPENING OF ST. JOSEPH'S CLOTHING EXCHANGE AND THRIFT SHOP coming soon! Initial donations can be dropped off in the porter station (door to the left of the glass door entrance). Please make sure clothing items are in good condition and freshly washed. Our goal is that clothing items sold in the thrift shop will be $5 or less. Funds raised will go to St. Joseph's Table to honor this great saint every March, and to Mount St. Michael Heritage Center and Museum. For more information, please call 570-8995.

Restore and Preserve Our Historic Landmark: Efforts to restore our beautiful building in preparation for Mount St. Michael’s 100th anniversary are underway, as the aging church and academy facility is badly in need of repair. Online donations are also welcome.

REV. FR. MICHAEL OSWALT – Ordained a priest in the modern Catholic Church in 2008, Fr. Oswalt soon came to see that not only were his orders invalid, but that his Church was not truly the Catholic Church. He came to Mount St. Michael in January 2010 to prepare for his ordination according to the traditional Catholic rite, which took place on June 29. View his online interview (2009)

Welcome to the Mount
St. Michael’s Parish is located at Mount St. Michael, a beautiful Tudor-Gothic structure high on a bluff overlooking northern Spokane. The building, which was constructed in 1916, served as a Jesuit scholasticate until 1968. Today Mount St. Michael continues to fulfill its mission as an educational and religious center. Maintained by the priests, Brothers and Sisters of the Congregation of Mary Immaculate Queen (see CMRI’s web site), it serves a variety of needs for Spokane area Catholics who value the traditional teachings and liturgy of their Faith. The east wing serves as a cloistered residence for the religious Sisters. The west wing houses church offices, a religious gift shop with hundreds of traditional Catholic books and religious goods, and a private academy for students from kindergarten through high school. A beautifully-adorned chapel located on the second floor serves as the parish church.
At St. Michael’s Parish, the liturgy is celebrated according to the traditional Latin Rite of the Catholic Church. We have remained faithful to the traditional Mass not out of nostalgia, stubbornness or “disobedience,” but out of heartfelt love for the Catholic Faith.
The traditional Latin Mass is a perfect expression of the unchanging and unchangeable Catholic teaching on the nature of the Mass and the Holy Eucharist. In Catholic theology, the Mass is the renewal and application to our daily lives of the greatest act of worship, the Passion and Death of Jesus Christ. Holy Mass reminds us of our duty to our Creator. In the Mass we join with the perfect Sacrifice Jesus offered to His Eternal Father on Calvary. The Mount’s lovely chapel provides a marvelous setting for the celebration of the sacred liturgy. (Newcomers, please read more...)
